Make a Circle with your Table Saw
Using a simple jig you can make a round circle on your table saw.
Custom Made Charcuterie Board with Turntable
For Valentine's Day this year I made my family a Charcuterie Board with turntable. I used oak, mahogany, poplar, and walnut to give it a bunch of different colors. After I glued the pieces together I cut the board into a circle and added Lazy Susan hardware underneath so it will turn. Finished it off with food grade mineral oil (two coats) to give it an amazing finish.
DIY Bedroom Bench & a Surprise End Table
Have you ever wanted to build your own stylish and unique bedroom bench and/or side table? This video will help you with all of the measurements, cuts, and the how to. Below you will find the material list, cut list, and supplies. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to leave a comment and I will help as much as I can.
For the materials and tools, you can purchase them directly from most hardware stores or from the links below directly from Amazon.
Material list:
(7) 1"x2"x8' premium pine board (can be poplar or oak if you desire)
Wood glue
Box of 1 1/2 inch (1/4" thickness) wood dowels
Brad nails (not mandatory but recommended to hold the spacers in place)
Wood Stain (Minwax Gunstock was the color I chose, see link below)
Sand paper (320 grit)
Tools:
Wood Clamps (see link below)
Dowel Drilling Jig (see link below)
Miter saw
Brad Nailer
Staining towel
Disposable gloves
Cut List:
(8) 1"x2"x48" top rails
(4) 1"x2"x20 1/4" legs
2) 1"x2"x45" leg braces
(21) wood spacers 1 1/2"x1 1/2"
(2) 1"x2" bottom of legs
Length of bench is 48", width 11 1/4", height is 22". All of these measurements can be adjusted based on desire.
Also, materials and cut list do not include the side table. The side table legs are the same size as the bench as are the wood spacers. Only different is the width of the table is 16" and requires only two rows of spacers for a total of 14. When it comes to joining the wood legs together, I love to refer other great Youtubers that can give you the best advice and teach you how to use certain tools. Below is Leah from @seejanedrill , who gives an excellent tutorial on how to drill and join wood dowels: https://youtu.be/ES79hQFWSs0

Directions:
First thing I did for this build was cut all the parts at once. After I cut all of the pieces I sanded the wood where needed with a high grit sandpaper. Premium wood comes very smooth but there will always be areas that need a final touch.
After sanding and before install, I stained all of the pieces. Trust me, staining first is a must, especially when trying to stain those hard to reach places. You'll notice on the video that I didn't stain the sides of the wood spacers. That because the spacers will only be seen on the ends, so staining the sides was not necessary.
After the stain dried, I assembled the top of the bench first. I clamped a board to the side of my work table so that it gave me a brace to push against while installing all of the pieces. I made a small jig from scrap wood to use as a spacer. Spacers and jigs are the best way to get a perfect measurement every time. If you mark out each measurement with a tape measure you run into a high chance that every spacer would be a bit off, thus the finished product might not look perfect. I also find it is faster and doesn't leave a pencil mark on your stained wood.
The side spacers are measured from each side 1.5 inches and the middle spacer is at the 24 inch mark. Once it is put together it looks absolutely beautiful. I also clamped the top in three different places where all three rows of the spacers are together. I let this dry for a few hours.
Next, I assembled the legs and the leg braces. Using the dowel drill jig, it went together really nice. Always follow the directions on the tool or use Leah's video from above. Once you drill a few holes you will have it mastered!!!
After the legs were assembled, I turned over the top and drilled for the dowels for the legs. I glued them together and tapped them into place. They went together so smooth. At this point I let the whole things dry for a few more hours. I was really happy with how strong and light the whole thing turned out.

DIY Folding & Storable Work Bench
Are you ready for a simple project that will help you saving space in your garage yet at the same time give you the work table you need to get your projects done? I built this easy DIY folding work bench that also is storable up against your wall. I found the plans for this table on Etsy from CECarpentry and the link for the plans are here:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/701155946/folding-work-bench-plans-wall-mountable?ref=hp_rv-1
Craig from CECarpentry did a great job on the plans and they have a lot of details and pictures. I made a few modifications to the plans and I explain this in the video. The plans do allow you to use 4x4 legs instead of 3x3 and explain the modifications needed for the adjustment. I don't have 3x3 wood available in my area so going with 4x4 was my only option and it turned out great.
Also, I really want to give a shout out to my two wonderful friends, Leah and Brent, who have some of the best channels you will find on YouTube. Leah, from SeeJaneDrill, has some of the best content for how to use every type of tool imaginable and uses her years of experience as a teacher to help you, the viewer, understand and comprehend what she is teaching.
The link is found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/seejanedrill Brent, from BYOT (Bring Your Own Tools) has some of the best projects around. From building floating shelves and beautiful tables, you will learn how to become the master craftsman you have always wanted to be. His explanations on how to build these projects will leave you wanting to finish one project and get started on the next.
His page is found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPZb-josPD4jRjSK7L0OAag I hope you all enjoy the video and don't forget to subscribe to my channel as I plan and build more projects in the future. Thank you and look forward to you joining me on this journey.

Grab & Go Extension Cord Holder
A simple and inexpensive beginner project for any woodworker. Materials are less than $15 and takes less than an hour to build. This cord holder is great for storing away your extension cords and keeping them organized. I got the idea from FamilyHandyman.com and here is the link to the project:

Beautiful Epoxy Scrap Wood Desk
This afternoon I just finished a new desk project for a friend. I took a lot of scrap pieces of wood from past projects, cut them down to size using my table saw, and glued them together for the top. I then sanded the top and put a trim around the edge after the first coat of epoxy . I used epoxy for the final finish on the top and delivered it to my friend. I think it absolutely turned out beautiful.
Note: Table saws are a very helpful tool when woodworking but require instruction before use. Outdoor Folding Table with Shade
|
One of my best projects ever. I built an outdoor dining table for a local restaurant. This way they can increase their outdoor dining since no indoor dining is allowed. The best thing about this table is it folds up and is on wheels for easy set up and storage when they open and close. The best part was surprising them with it.
Here is the wood planer that we used. We would give this product a 5 out of 5. The blades are easy to change out and it really takes the curve out of those boards. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07... Here are some of the tools that we used in the project. I love Dewalt Tools. It is the ultimate tool set for the weekend warrior or the skilled tradesman. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08... |
Handwritten Endgame Avengers Movie Script
https://www.etsy.com/listing/741870743/handwritten-avengers-endgame-script?ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1
This is a handwritten copy of an original artwork I did of the movie script for Avengers: Endgame. I went through the movie, line by line, and can guarantee a 99.6% accuracy on the spoken words. In the art is a silhouette of Iron Man right before his snap. Hours and hours went into this piece. It is shipped in a cardboard tube and is ready to frame. Paper only, frame not included. Signed by the artist. 18"x24" paper, in color. Iconic lines from the movie are in color. Was able to get almost all spoken words up to the snap before running out of room. This is a handwritten so a few errors might be found.

DIY $20 Student Desk
I made this desk out of wood for $20!!!! It might just be the easiest desk you can make for your student. Distant learning can be stressful so let's make this custom desk that you and your child can build together. The pieces can be transported by car and put together in less than an hour. It is sturdy and the best part is decorating it at the end. You can paint, stain, or add stickers to give your favorite student their own space to learn.
Below is the material and cut list:
1. (1) 2'x4'x3/4" sanded plywood
2. (2) 1"x3"x8' pine
3. Wood Glue
4. 1 1/2" brad or wood screws
5. Sand paper (120 grit)
6. Paint or wood stain (optional)
7. Marvel Comic Stickers (not optional)
Cut List:
1. (2) 18"x24"x3/4" plywood (top and bottom of the box)
2. (1) 4"x24"x3/4" plywood (back of the box)
3. (2) 4"x17 1/4"x3/4" plywood (box sides)
4. (4) 1"x34" pine board (10 degree cut on each end to match the angle of the desk to the ground for the legs)
5. (1) 1"x25 1/2" (back leg brace)
6. (2) 1"x16" (side leg braces, cut at 10 degrees on each end)
Directions: Take your piece of 2'x4' plywood piece and mark it along the 4 foot side as follows: Make your marks at 18", 36", 40" and 44". Cut along the lines till you have all of your plywood pieces. Next, cut the two sides pieces at 17 1/4". You will now glue the sides together using brad or wood screws to hold the pieces together. This will leave you one open side which will now be the front of the desk. The legs are cut at 34 inches long with 10 degree angles cut on each end. These angles are cut in parallel so that they match the top of the desk and the angle of the ground. Each leg is installed 5 inches from the front and back of the box. This should allow the desk to set flat against the wall when placed. I applied some glue at the spots the legs will attach to the box and nailed in some brad nails. If you use 1.5" wood screws you should only need two of them. Remember, the nails and/or screws only hold the piece together till the glue dries in about an hour. It will be really strong once the glue dries. Last you need to do is install the back and side braces. The back brace is installed 10 inches up from the bottom of the legs as well as the side pieces. The side braces are cut at 16" long with 10 degree cuts on the sides, but this time cut opposite of each other. This way the angles match the sides of the legs. Once again, a little dab of glue will really strengthen the piece once it dries. Last but not least is to sand of the corners of the box and any rough spots you find. You can now paint or color the desk. If you want to stain I would do this before you install the pieces so that all sides can be stained. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask on my YouTube video.

DIY Folding Desk
With so many schools closed and doing online learning I realized that my son needed a space to call his own. His text books were everywhere and he was uncomfortable so I decided to build him a desk. I took it to a higher level and made it a folding desk so we could put it away when he does not need it or on the weekends.
I posted my plans on Esty and the video below will also give you a pretty good description on how to make your own. The plans include 19 colored photos including a cut and material list and 9 pages worth of plans including a diagram. It is easy to read and easy to follow. Please comment on my YouTube if you have any questions. Happy Building!
